Scilla flowers is also an early spring flower, basically at the same time as saffron. Also use bulbous flowers. It can also bloom in the autumn with buried flowers. Bees also love this flower. I guess the flowers here are all S. siberica.
1. This is a solitary bee. There are also a few of these flowers on my grass, and occasionally I can see the bees. The following photo of flowers were taken on April 5, 2005 (haha! On the same day! But 14 years ago!), Beal Botanical Garden at Dense State University.

5. Another flower, also is very beautiful, is Xueguanghua, Chionodoxa, which belongs to the same subfamily. There is one in the middle of Xueguanghua, and the anthers of Scilla flowers are separated. Xueguang flowers generally face upwards, and Scilla flowers sag. I don’t know whether all Scilla are have the beautiful blue pollen, but the pollen of Xueguanghua is yellow or white. This flower prefer to grow togather, and Scilla likes to stand out.

Written at Qingming Festival last year, when I was in UIUC (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) . It was souther than here, and the season was about two weeks earlier. This flower has not bloomed yet! Basically at the same time as Crocus.
