Magnolia belongs to the genus Magnolia of the Magnoliaceae family. This genus has about 210 species. Magnolia belongs to the ‘ancient’ flower. The petals and calyx are not separated. What is like a petal is actually a tepal, instead of sepal and petal. Scientists believe that the flower was pollinated by the Beatles, so the perianths are thicker.
It should not matter to bees. The first time I saw a bee was on the campus of my alma mater (Hunan Agricultural University), and later I saw it in Kunming, but both times the tree was too high and I didn’t take it. In the future, I often observe whether there are bees on the magnolia, most of the time there are no bees, until one day I finally find that many bees pick a species.
Taken on March 21, 2012, the same day as the cherry blossoms. The scientific name is Magnolia x loebneri </ em>, and the common name is Loebner magnolia. It is a cross between M. Kobus </ em> and M. Stellata </ em>. On the Michigan State University campus, behind the Natural Science building.

It seems that the movement of this bee also has nectar. But it is probably pollen-based.
